The igniter glows hot in order to open the valve and ignite the gas.

Part location on Oven:

The igniter is located under the bottom panel inside the oven. It is attached to the burner tube that the gas flows through.

Part failure symptoms: 

A bad igniter can cause your oven to not get hot. They can function intermittently when they are about to go bad.
