To tell the motor its position while rotating.

Part location on appliance:

Located on the stator motor, either on the back if its a front load washer or on the bottom if a top load.

Part failure symptoms: 

Most of the time your washer will give an LE error code, indicating that the motor is locked. It may not spin at all and give no error code on rare occasions.

Part diagnosis:

Can be tested for resistance with a multimeter OR bring your part in for free testing or call the U-FIX-IT store for free diagnosis assistance.
