Part purpose:

Belt connects motor to drum.

Part location on dryer:

Belt installs around the drum and the motor pulley with the ribbed side toward the drum.

Part failure symptoms:

Rubber cracks and falls off in chunks.  Aging belt will become stretched, frayed and worn before breaking. Bad belts can make a thumping noise.

Part diagnosis:

Most common failure is a broken belt.  The belt should have well defined grooves toward the drum and pulley with no signs of wear on the smooth back.  Bring your parts in for free confirmation that it is good/bad or call the U-FIX-IT store for free assistance with diagnosis.
