Part location on dryer:

The belt installs around the drum and the motor pulley with the ribbed side toward the drum.

Part failure symptoms:

Rubber cracks and falls off in chunks.  The aging belt will become stretched, frayed, and worn before breaking. Bad belts can make a thumping noise.

Part diagnosis:
