Purpose
The coupler connects the motor shaft to the transmission shaft. It transmits the power of the motor to the transmission and protects the motor from overload. It is designed to break before heavy loads can cause damage to the motor. Note: There is a heavy duty version available, part number JA 285852.
Location
The coupler is located near the bottom of the washer between the motor and the transmission.
Failure symptoms
When the couple fails, the washer will not agitate or spin even though the motor can be heard to run. Washer will fill and drain.

Remove coupler and inspect the “fingers” for breakage. Compare your coupler with the picture on this page.
